Consultancy Services for Design Including Enhancement of Feasibility Study, GIS Data Collection and Gathering for 25 Towns

Narrative description of Project:

The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives (MoLGRD&C) holds the responsibility for ensuring access to water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services. Key agencies involved in this sector include the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Water and Sewerage Authorities (WASA), City Corporations / Municipalities, and each assigned specific roles for urban, peri-urban, and rural WASH provision. Bangladesh is identified as one of the most environmentally vulnerable nations globally, facing challenges such as climate change impacts on WASH services, significant rural-urban migration rates, especially into informal settlements, inadequate services in hard-to-reach areas, groundwater contamination with arsenic, and insufficient management of fecal sludge and solid waste.

The Bangladesh City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation Project (BCISP) 1 addresses critical challenges faced by urban areas in Bangladesh, particularly concerning sanitation and fecal sludge management.
